A couple was seriously injured when their car left a roadway and struck a tree Thursday night in Sumter County.
Saleem Ali, 56, of Kissimmee, had been at the wheel of 2009 Toyota Corolla at 7:15 p.m. northbound on State Road 91 when the accident occurred, according to an accident report from the Florida Highway Patrol. He and a passenger, 47-year-old Muneerah Ali, also of Kissimmee, were both transported to Orlando Regional Medical Center.
Saleem Ali had lost control of the vehicle, the report indicated. Both had been wearing their seatbelts.
