To the Editor:
I’ve read these recent terrible experiences Villages residents have had at area hospitals. Clearly some people will tell of good outcomes. But do not ignore that these issues exist. They do, all throughout the medical community in and about The Villages. I have a (very) short list of doctors I would ever recommend from the area. Overbooked, weeks to a month wait for some, explained away as “busy season,” “go to Urgent Care.” Visiting hours three days a week, not five in some cases, “go to Leesburg office.” No appointments after five, or weekends. This is not tolerated up north, where care is superior, and patients have options to get same day or close visits. Answer; too easy pickings to start a practice here. There are 125,000 victims and growing. Automatic $$$, nights and weekends off, in Florida! Poor care, without caring.
Do something about it, en masse, or fly north for real medical care. That choice is all we have. Demand better, we all deserve it.
