A 46-year-old Lady Lake man was booked Wednesday afternoon at the Sumter County Detention Center on a probation violation.
Ramon Antonio Lanza had been placed on probation in December 2015 after an accident earlier that same month in which his vehicle sideswiped a vehicle driven by the niece of a Water Oak woman. She told Lanza to pull over to exchange information, but instead, he drove away. While the woman was on the phone with police, she spotted Lanza driving back by the scene of the accident. Lady Lake police were provided with a partial license plate number and soon had Lanza, who at the time was employed as a pizza delivery man, in custody.
In addition to being placed on probation, his vehicle was immobilized for 10 days, he was ordered to consume or possess no alcohol or illegal substances, participate in a victim awareness program and perform 50 hours of community service. He was fined $500 and ordered to pay $406 in court costs.
