A man running late for work was arrested Monday morning for driving without a license in Marion County.

At around 8:34 a.m., a Marion County sheriff’s deputy was traveling southbound in the 600 block of NE Hwy. 314A and observed a maroon Chevy pickup truck traveling northbound at a high rate of speed, according to an arrest affidavit. The deputy confirmed the vehicle’s speed with a moving radar to be 71 miles per hour in a 55 mph zone, the affidavit stated. The deputy turned around and conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle, identified as a 2002 maroon chevy pickup truck at the 1700 block of NEW Hwy. 314A.
The deputy made contact with the driver, 35-year-old Jose Luis Molina of Silver Springs, who advised that he was running late to work and was headed to pick up a fellow employee. He then advised the deputy that he did not have a driver’s license and he was on probation. Molina provided the deputy with a Florida ID card, and the deputy confirmed through teletype that Molina was never issued a Florida driver’s license.
Molina was placed under arrest and transported to the Marion County Jail. Bond was set at $500.
