A once proud property is now a neighborhood eyesore and was the subject of a public hearing Wednesday before the Village Center Community Development District Board of Supervisors.
The property is located at 513 St. Andrews Blvd. in the Village of Country Club Hills on the Historic Side of The Villages.
The owner, Thomas Lango, is dead. His wife preceded him in death.
On May 31, a complaint was received by Community Standards about overgrown grass, weeds, a boarded-up window and a hole in a carport lattice.
The utilities are turned off. There does not appear to be a mortgage on the property.
A neighbor who spoke at the public hearing said that Lango had taken great pride in his property and it has been sad to watch its decay.
Community Standards has tracked down a great niece who appears ready to take some responsibility for the property. If she does not bring it into compliance, fines will be assessed against the property
