Items valued at around $2,500 were reportedly stolen from a truck parked at the Red Roof Inn in Ocala.

Marion County sheriff’s deputies responded Thursday to the Red Roof Inn located at 121 NW 40th Ave. in reference to a burglary, according to an incident report. Upon arrival, deputies made contact with the victim, along with her husband, who advised that they were in the process of moving and have been staying at the Red Roof Inn. The victim advised most of their belongings were in their 1997 red Ford F150 and a trailer attached to it. The victim and her husband advised that at some point in time between Wednesday at 10 p.m. and 12:30 p.m. on Thursday, an unknown suspect entered their truck and stole a 52-inch Samsung plasma TV valued at $900 from the cab of the truck. The unknown suspect also stole a tent valued at $149, an air mattress valued at $200 from the bed of the truck and miscellaneous tools that were in several toolboxes, all for a total loss of approximately $2,500. They also advised that the suspect had entered through the sliding window at the cab of the truck because the truck and window were locked, but the latch was broken.
Earlier this year, a teen circuit racer’s custom-built four-wheeler was stolen from the same hotel.
