A Wildwood man with a history of drug arrests was taken into custody Wednesday after a disturbance at his home.

Wildwood police were called to 821 Mary Street where 29-year-old Dustin Carter Mayo attempted to give the officer a false name, according to an arrest report.

He was found to be in possession of heroin.

He was taken into custody where he was booked without bond at the Sumter County Detention Center due to his being in violation of his probation.

Mayo was arrested in January after he was caught on State Road 44 driving a black Chevrolet Cavalier with a license plate that belonged to a white GMC utility vehicle.

Mayo had been arrested last year in the drugging and sexual assault of a woman. You can read about that case HERE. However, in November State Attorney Brad King announced that the evidence was “legally insufficient to prove guilt.” Mayo is still facing drug charges and is due back in Sumter County Court later this month.

Mayo had also been arrested in an incident near Brownwood.
