A 67-year-old resident of The Villages was arrested after allegedly striking a woman at their home in the Village of Hadley.
Gregory Fred Kargula was arrested Wednesday afternoon at his home on Groveland Place.
He struck a woman on the back of the head on Monday, cursed at her and said he was going to “make her life a living hell,” according to an arrest report from the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office.
The woman did not immediately report what happened. She went to an appointment and met with a dietician and told the dietician what had happened. The dietician contacted Leesburg police who reached out to the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office.
Kargula was taken into custody on a charge of battery. While in a patrol car being transported to the Sumter County Detention Center, Kargula told a deputy, “Tomorrow when I get out I will say that she hit me and she will get in trouble,” the arrest report indicated.
Bond was set at $2,500.
