A massive pile of debris can be seen at the Lady Lake Public Works building.
Mayor Jim Richards on Monday night had a special thank you for the hard work put in by the town’s public works employees in the weeks since Hurricane Irma.
The total amount of debris removed so far is approximately 10,000 cubic yards or roughly 2,000 tons, said Lady Lake Public Works Director C.T. Eagle.
The Villages portion of the Town of Lady Lake has already seen its first pass.
“After all of the Town’s roads have been picked up in the first pass, we will then make an additional pass on all of the Town roads again to ensure everyone had ample time to put out their debris. Once the second pass is completed, we will be finished with debris removal,” Eagle said.
Town crews are currently working in the center portion of Town (Arlington area and east), working their way south to the southern Town limits.
“Some areas were hit harder than others, so the main focus has been on the highly impacted areas,” he added.
