A student reportedly discovered a bag of cocaine Thursday on a sidewalk at Marion Oaks Elementary.
Marion County sheriff’s deputies responded to Marion Oaks Elementary School located at 280 Marion Oaks Trail, in reference to one of the fifth grade students finding a small bag of unknown white powdery substance, according to an incident report. Upon arrival, deputies made contact with the school’s principal, who stated that her student found a small bag of unknown white powdery substance. The principal gave deputies the bag, which appeared to be cocaine. It was confirmed as positive with a cocaine test kit.
Deputies advised the principal that they were taking the cocaine to destroy it, and that there were no criminal charges.
