A 29-year-old Wildwood man who had a prominent role in University of South Florida athletics was killed in an early morning accident on Interstate 75 in Sumter County.
Mike Radomski had been at the wheel of a 2002 Ford Explorer at 1:03 a.m. Thursday at Mile Marker 326 northbound on I-75 when his vehicle collided with the rear of a semi driven by 49-year-old Luis Angel Ramos Torres of Miami. Traffic had slowed ahead of the semi, which had also slowed down, according to an accident report from the Florida Highway Patrol.
Radomski died at the scene of the accident.
He was the media liaison for the men’s USF basketball team. He also worked in other areas of USF sports.
The Tampa Bay Times reported that Radomski had been working late Wednesday evening at USF preparing materials for the upcoming basketball season. Radomski commuted from Wildwood each day so his wife, whom he married two summers ago, could live closer to her own workplace. Christina Radomski is an assistant athletic trainer at the University of Florida.
