A 60-year-old Wildwood man has been sentenced in the theft of hundreds of dollars worth of wine, champagne and other bottles of alcohol at Publix at Lake Deaton Plaza.
Steven Keith Ingrassia of the Peppertree Apartments in Wildwood was captured on surveillance when he entered the store on July 10 and 12 and took the liquor. Both times, he put the bottles in a green bag and walked out without paying for it.
Surveillance images showed the suspect was wearing a shirt with a Spartan logo on the front and the word “Gladiator” on the back. On the second trip, the man used the ATM and a detective was able to track the credit card to Mid Florida Credit Union. The credit union identified the card holder as Ingrassia.
This past week in Sumter County Court, he pleaded no contest to two theft charges.
He was placed on three years probation.
A separate case involving a drunk driving charge is still pending against Ingrassia in Sumter County Court. He had been arrested on the DUI charge and had been free on bond two days after his arrest in the Publix liquor thefts.
