A 96-year-old World War II veteran will lead the Christmas Parade in Lady Lake.
The parade steps off at 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 2.
Bill Cumbaa joined the United States Marines in 1943. He fought in the Battle of Peleliu and at Okinawa during World War II. He was awarded two Silver Stars for heroic action and two Purple Hearts. He turned down a third purple heart.
He is part of the North Lake Marine Corps League Detachment, which is composed of members from Lake, Marion, Sumter counties as well as The Villages.
At 6 p.m. Saturday, Cumbaa will lead the Leesburg Christmas Parade.
