A man who was driving on an expired Michigan driver’s license was arrested for drug possession on Sunday in Marion County.
Marion County sheriff’s deputies observed a white Honda driving northbound on Hwy. 25 without a passenger headlight, according to an arrest report. Deputies conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle and made contact with the driver, 27-year-old Jeremy Jermaine Gallon of Ocala. A check through teletype revealed that Gallon’s Michigan driver’s license has been expired and that he had a warrant for domestic battery out of Palm Beach County.
When deputies detained Gallon and placed him into the patrol car, they advised Gallon that they could smell the odor of marijuana coming from his vehicle and a search was being conducted. Gallon told deputies that the vehicle belonged to his girlfriend and that he could also smell marijuana.
Upon searching the vehicle, deputies found three small clear bags containing a green leafy substance that field tested positive for marijuana in the center console, the report stated. Deputies also discovered a grinder next to the bags and contained a green residue believed to be left from marijuana. Gallon stated he purchased the marijuana for a family member. He was placed under arrest and transported to Marion County Jail. Bond was set at $2,500.
