A repeat offender was arrested after he was spotted Sunday afternoon walking into traffic while intoxicated in Marion County.

Marion County sheriff’s deputies responded to SW 60th Ave. and west Hwy. 200 in reference to a suspicious person walking into traffic, according to an arrest report. Deputies observed 59-year-old Joseph Eugene Ring sitting on a low wall on the northeast corner of the intersection. Ring stood up and began swaying very badly, the report stated. Ring was arrested last July for disorderly intoxication. He walked off of the sidewalk and was not on the crosswalk, swaying almost to the point of falling as he crossed the intersection. He caused a vehicle to come to an immediate halt as he proceeded to walk.
Deputies approached Ring who advised that he had drank a “handle” after deputies asked if he had been drinking, the report stated. Deputies detected an odor of alcohol coming from Ring and noticed his eyes to be bloodshot and his speech slurred. Ring told deputies he needed to urinate and said to cover him even though deputies had told him he was not free until the investigation was complete. Ring proceeded to unzip his pants, but was told he could not urinate in public. He urinated by the patrol car.
Ring was placed under arrest and was transported to Marion County Jail. Bond was set at $500.
