A son was arrested in an attack on his father over concealed drugs on Monday in Summerfield.
Marion County sheriff’s deputies responded to a residence located on SE 47th Ave. in reference to a disturbance, according to an arrest report. Upon arrival, deputies made contact with the victim who stated that he observed his son, 28-year-old Cory Lee Parry, placing something under his bed. The father stated that his son was released from jail two days earlier for drug possession, so he became suspicious and went to confront his son about what he was doing. The father entered his son’s bedroom and began removing his son’s wallet from under the bed, at which time Parry attempted to stop him. Parry’s father opened the wallet and found several white pills and three small marijuana cigarettes. His father then instructed his wife to contact law enforcement.
Deputies made contact with Parry who advised he did not want to speak about the incident, but admitted that the white pills and marijuana cigarettes were his. Parry advised that he was intending to get rid of the pills and cigarettes because he no longer wanted to use them.
Parry’s father provided deputies with a plastic ziploc bag containing 13 round white pills that were confirmed as clonzaepam. The cigarettes were confirmed to be marijuana.
Parry was placed under arrest on charges of possession of marijuana and possession of a controlled substance and was transported to Marion County Jail. Bond was set at $6,000.
