Suspected shoplifter apprehended after fleeing on foot to Murphy Express on County Road 466

A suspected shoplifter was apprehended after fleeing on foot from Wal-Mart at Buffalo Ridge Plaza to the Murphy Express service station on County Road 466.

Alicia Tyndall Hight, 34, of Ocala, had been spotted by the store’s loss prevention officer concealing items in a black backpack, according to an arrest report from the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office. After she left the store with the items, including a knife blade, wallet, bandana and the stolen black backpack, she was confronted by the loss prevention officer. She fled across the parking lot.

Wildwood police joined in the search for Hight and found her hiding behind the service station.

She was arrested on a charge of petit theft and booked at the Sumter County Detention Center. She posted bond and was released.
