Before The Villages existed there was Orange Blossom Gardens. The commercial center of the early mobile home park was the La Plaza Grande North complex. Both restaurants and retail brought residents to the complex during the early years of The Villages development. As The Villages spread south of U.S. Hwy. 27/441 Spanish Springs Town Square became The Villages’ commercial center.
La Plaza Grande North is about to get a major makeover.
The Villages has filed a revitalization plan which will allow the present tenants to remain while improving parking and traffic flow. Five buildings will be demolished in the next few weeks.
The buildings will be replaced with three new buildings.
El Ranchito Mexican restaurant, the Circle K and Tire Choice & Total Car Care will not be impacted by the construction.
