Purse stolen in smash-and-grab burglary at Carney Island Recreation Park

A purse was reportedly stolen in a smash-and-grab burglary on Sunday at Carney Island Recreation Park.

A Marion County sheriff’s deputy responded to  the park located at 13600 SE 115 Ave. in reference to a vehicle burglary and petit theft, according to an incident report. Upon arrival, the deputy made contact with the victim who said that unknown suspects smashed the front passenger side window of his vehicle and stole his niece’s purse. The victim stated he and his family arrived at the park around 12:30 p.m. and went to the playground. The victim’s niece told the deputy that her purse was in a black Disney bag.

The purse contained a black Harley cloth purse, credit and debit cards, a black wallet and her driver’s license. Approximately $500 worth of damage was done to the vehicle.
