Two men were reported in a suspicious incident after purchasing cigarettes with gift cards at Circle K on Tuesday in Weirsdale.
A Marion County sheriff’s deputy responded to Circle K located at 13873 SE Hwy. 42 and made contact with a Circle K employee who advised that around 4:45 p.m., two unknown “Hispanic looking” males entered the store, the report stated. The employee said that both suspects have visited the store multiple times in the last week and have used possibly fraudulent gift cards to pay for the items in the store. One of the men came to the store on Tuesday and retrieved six quart sized containers of Pennzoil Synthetic 5W-30 valued at $61.14 and three large boxes of Marlboro cigarettes valued at $184.70. He then swiped multiple gift cards until one worked to purchase the items and left the store. The second male suspect entered the store and attempted to buy the same items and swiped multiple gift cards until one worked. At that time, the store’s manager came out from the back and told the man to leave and not ever return. The manager observed the two men get into a newer 4-door model, dark colored Toyota and exit the parking area, heading northbound on County Road 25.
