A license plate stolen from a car parked at a Villages bank has been tied to several local burglaries and robberies.
The Mount Dora Police Department contacted the Lady Lake Police Department last week indicating that surveillance had captured a license plate belonging to a vehicle of a resident at The Quarters Apartments. However, the license plate did not match the make and model of the car spottd at the scene of the crime.
The woman, who works at Bob Evans on County Road 466 in The Villages, told police that she believes her license plate was stolen from her car on Jan. 18 while she was cashing a check at Citizens First Bank in Spanish Springs Town Square.
Ocala police also indicated the woman’s stolen license plate was linked to a crime there, too.
