On the second and third Saturday of the month the members of The Pontoon Yacht Club of Lake County gather for cruises on local waterways. Sometimes the pontoon yachts go out on the Harris Chain of Lakes and sometimes as far away as St. Johns River.

The Pontoon Yacht Club enjoys adventures out on the water.

Sometimes the yachters will link their boats together to share a lunch and sometimes they will visit a shoreline restaurant. With 40 boats in the Club it may seem like an seaborne invasion when they descend on a restaurant for lunch.

Late last year, the fleet descended on the Fish Camp restaurant on Lake Eustis. There they were treated to locally sourced food by Jim Jordan, the owner and his staff. The club members were so impressed by the great food and friendly staff that they booked a large dinning room at the Fish Camp for a meeting. Once again the club was treated to an exceptional experience which led the club to award its first annual Pontoon Yacht Club Hospitality Award to Jim Jordan and the staff at the Fish Camp.

This past week, Commodore Arlene Strack, and board members Bettie Nebergall and Dan Vincent presented Jordan with the award.

The Club was formed in 1989 and is composed of people of all ages who love to cruise in their pontoon yachts. Members live in the multi county area with one couple coming all the way from Orlando. The club’s website is pontoonyachtclub.com and they welcome new boaters.

Fish Camp on Lake Eustis is located at 901 Lakeshore Blvd.
