The Lady Lake Commission on Monday night dealt a blow to a businessman who hopes to open a Darrell’s Diner in a new development backing up the Historic Side of The Villages.
Residents who live on Tarrson Boulevard, whose homes would back up to the proposed development have indicated they objected to an earlier opening time sought by the developer.
Last year, the commission said the businesses at the development could not open before 7 a.m. The developer wants to open the diner at 5 a.m. to capitalize on early morning customers. He struck out last month before the town’s Planning & Zoning Board which voted 3-2 to deny the request for the early opening.
The commission followed suit, denying the request 4-0. Commissioner Ruth Kussard was absent from Monday’s meeting.
