Marion County announces new play area at Coehadjoe Park completed, pickleball courts coming soon

Parkour posts, ropes, twisted climbing nets and ladders now stretch nearly 100 feet across Coehadjoe Park, 4225 NE 35th St., as part of newly-completed additions to the park’s Wild Cat Natural Play area. In addition to the Parkour course, the play area enhancements also include a cottage-style play place with a stairway and slide that accommodates children with walkers or wheelchairs.

These additions complete the park’s two-phase play area improvement project, complementing existing nature-themed play area formations that encourage imaginative and unstructured play.

Coehadjoe Park, one of Marion County Parks and Recreation’s 38 parks, also offers walking trails, picnic pavilions, and courts for tennis, basketball, racquetball and volleyball. Coming soon are eight lighted pickleball courts, a project launched in response to community requests received during the department’s master plan process. These dedicated pickle ball courts will be the first in the county for public use.

The improvements at Coehadjoe Park are part of Marion County’s continuous efforts to protect our community’s natural resources while providing quality outdoor recreation opportunities for residents and visitors alike.
