A bookkeeper at an Ocala church has reported the theft of a check.

A Marion County sheriff’s deputy responded Thursday to Joy Evangelical Lutheran Church located on 7045 SW 83rd Place in reference to a stolen check that was cashed. Upon arrival, the deputy made contact with the the church’s bookkeeper who advised that she mailed a check to a business for services. She stated that she gave the mailed check directly to the postal service clerk, but somehow the check was stolen beyond that point. The bookkeeper said she mailed the check on Dec. 5. She was able to provide a copy of the cashed check, which was submitted as evidence.
