
Alice Carol McFadden Vanderhorst, passed into the presence of the Lord Jesus on February 17, 2018 in Leesburg, FL. She was 81 years old.
Alice was born on March 18, 1936 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Her father was William Schuster and her mother was Ethel Mc Fadden. She graduated from Westchester Teacher’s College. She married Robert Vanderhorst and they had three children: Robert Erbar, Verdel Karen, and Jennifer Edna. Besides working as a teacher’s assistant, she worked many years for the Bell Telephone Company in New York. Later, she moved to Florida to live near her daughter Dell Ricker and her family. She worked as a school bus driver for Lake Hills Schools where she enjoyed volunteering for the Special Olympics each year.
Alice committed her life to the Lord as a teenage and her life was marked by love and service for Him. She was a faithful member of His Fellowship in Fruitland Park. Alice was known for her quick wit and sense of humor. She was an avid letter writer. Alice enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Alice is survived by her daughters Verdel Vanderhorst Ricker of Leesburg, FL and Jennifer (John) Burger of Turkey. She had ten grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. She is preceded by her son Robert Erbar and grandsons Jonathan Ricker and Steven Ricker.
Funeral service will be Saturday, February 24 at 4 p.m. at Good News Church in Leesburg, Florida.
