The Villages Parrot Heads Club invites everyone to join in for chances to win prizes playing golf cart poker and helping the club raise money for local charities. This annual event typically draws upwards of 1,000 players.

This year the event starts at noon Saturday, March 24.

The cost of a card is $5. Players may buy as many as they want and they may purchase a wild card, which must be purchased before the first card is drawn, to help the best hand at the end.

Players proceed through four stations along the way starting at noon in no particular order:

• Havana Country Club

• Palmer Country Club

• Mallory Hill Country Club

• Cody’s Original Roadhouse at Lake Sumter Landing.

Players are encouraged to have lunch at one of these supporting venues. These stations will close at 3 p.m.

The fifth poker run station at Laurel Manor Recreation Center will open at 1 p.m.

Laurel Manor will be the scene of music by Mike & Terrie, games and a basket raffle.

Tickets may be purchased in advance at the Parrot Head PHlockings at 4 p.m. March 12 and  March 21 at Mallory Hill Country Club or by calling Larry Ridgley (352-259-7450) or Renie Larson (352-633-2934) or may be purchased the day of the event at any of the poker run stations.
