An RV that was the focus of a public hearing Friday, was gone Saturday from the Villager’s driveway.
But will it be back?
Mark Frederickson’s RV, frequently found in his driveway at 1637 Golden Ridge Drive, has become a sore point in the Village of Poinciana.
Most CDD boards in The Villages allow a liberal interpretation of the rule against RVs. The liberal interpretation allows a RV to be in a Villages driveway for up to 72 hours. The strict interpretation would be “No RVs. Period,” said District Counsel Valerie Fuchs.
Neighbors submitted multiple time-and-date-stamped photos to Community Standards showing the RV in Frederickson’s driveway.
Frederickson questioned the validity of the photos and said he frequently takes “one day camping trips.” He claimed his travel is limited due to his caring for an elderly parent and a sibling with Alzheimer’s.
A neighbor claimed Frederickson previously has stashed his RV at the Hibiscus Recreation Center and a girlfriend’s home “down the street.”
While Frederickson indicated he pays to store his RV at a storage facility, a neighbor who spoke at the public hearing disputed that claim.
CDD 5 supervisors didn’t offer Frederickson much sympathy.
“We’ve seen this before. They’ll turn around and do it again,” said CDD 5 Supervisor Gary Kadow.
He said it’s a shame that Community Standards has wasted time and resources pursuing Frederickson’s RV in a cat-and-mouse game.
He accused Frederickson of “working the system.”
