Brothers arrested in homicide last year on Cherry Lake Road near The Villages

Two brothers have been identified as suspects in the death of a man found this past November in a burning car near The Villages.

Joel Aaron Curry, 29, had been found Nov. 5 by the Villages Public Safety Department in the 8700 block of NE 102nd Road near the Sumter County/Lake County line. The location is near the Village of Caroline.

Sumter County detectives through investigative leads have been able to identify two brothers, Chauncey and Anthony Calhoun, as suspects in the case.

Chauncey Calhoun was arrested Thursday and charged with murder, armed kidnapping, robbery and possession of a weapon by a convicted felon. Anthony Calhoun is currently in the Lake County Detention Center on unrelated charges. Sumter County detectives have obtained an arrest warrant for Anthony Calhoun with the same charges.

This murder appears to be the result of an ongoing dispute.
