Havana Country Club has required followup visits from a state health inspector twice in the past six months.

A check of records on file with the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation offered details of the inspection reports.

This past December, the country club on Odell Circle received nine warnings from an inspector.

The problems included a slicer blade with old food debris and an accumulation of encrusted food debris on a mixer head. There were equipment problems, including a reach-in cooler gasket in disrepair and a non-functioning light on the cook’s line. There were issues with food storage and temperature and unclean surfaces. There also were deficiencies with records regarding employee training records.

A followup inspection was again required after an inspector’s visit on April 13. High-priority violations included an employee handling soiled dishes and then handling clean dishes, as well as an employee handling soiled dishes and then serving plated food. There was no soap, hot water or paper towels at an employee hand-washing station. A “potentially hazardous” situation was noted when the inspector spotted thawed shrimp in standing water. A soda gun also was soiled. The inspector returned on April 20 and the country club cleared inspection.
