Marion County Sheriff’s detention deputies responded to an attempted suicide inside the jail early Wednesday morning.
A short time later, inmate Diana Eldredge, 49, was transported to Munroe Regional Medical Center and listed in critical condition, a sheriff’s report says.
She had been booked at the jail on Feb. 24 on a charge of grand theft.
At Sheriff Billy Woods’ request, investigators with the Florida Department of Law Enforcement are investigating the incident.
