Crestview man reports semi-automatic pistol stolen from his car in Ocklawaha

A Crestview man who was visiting an Ocklawaha home to attend the funeral of a family member reported the theft of a firearm from his vehicle Sunday.

The man told Marion County deputies that someone took his handgun from his vehicle sometime Saturday night while it was parked at a home in the 12400 block of 135th Terrace. He said the vehicle was in good condition when he checked it Saturday around 5 p.m., but he noticed that it had been burglarized at about 7:15 a.m. Sunday as he was traveling to the airport, a Marion County sheriff’s report states.

The man also told deputies that he was confident he locked the vehicle the night before.
According to the report, the stolen gun is a black Smith & Wesson M&P Shield 9mm semi-automatic pistol valued at $400. The man also told deputies that the firearm had a pocket clip on right side of the slide that contained several rounds of hollow-point ammunition.
