Letter to the Editor:
I had the honor of volunteering at Florida National Cemetery Sunday morning with over 1,000 others. Together we placed over 140,000 flags in front of headstones and columbariums, thanking each Veteran for their service. There were so many volunteers, and it was so well organized by Flags for Fallen Veterans, that we were completed within 60 minutes. We’ll return on Saturday to retrieve the flags and return them to storage for next year. My American Legion Post #347 is the lead organization for flag storage and refurbishment. I saw a headstone Sunday where the Veteran had served in World War II, Korea, and Vietnam! Very humbling indeed. Thank a Veteran today, and every day.
