Villager Patricia Francis and Gov. Rick Scott.

A well-connected Republican has filed paperwork to run for a seat in Community Development District 6.

Patricia Francis of the Village of Bridgeport at Miona Shores filed Thursday with the Sumter County Supervisor of Elections.

She is running for Seat 1, currently held by CDD 6 Board Chair Sally Moss. She will complete her term, but will appear on the November ballot as she runs for a seat on the Sumter County School Board. Moss was appointed to the school board seat earlier this month.

Francis has long been active in Republican Party politics in The Villages. Her husband, Mike Francis, was a Sumter County commissioner. He died in 2009.

Also running for Seat 1 is attorney Andrew Curtis.
