A woman was arrested after she was stopped for speeding at the entrance to the Village of Bridgeport at Lake Sumter.
Denise Portillo, 34, who lives on Bird Island in Summerfield, was caught on radar at 8:45 a.m. Thursday driving 51 miles per hour in a 35 mph zone on Buena Vista Boulevard, according to an arrest report from the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office.
The deputy making the traffic stop found that Portillo’s license had been suspended for multiple failures to meeting financial responsibilities and for failure to pay a traffic fine.
An inventory of the vehicle she had been driving turned up marijuana in the zippered pocket of a canvas bag.
She was arrested on charges of driving while license suspended and possession of marijuana.
