Pedro Pablo Mesa

Pedro Pablo Mesa, age 79, of The Villages, FL, passed away on Saturday, June 16, 2018 surrounded by his loving family. He was born on June 30, 1938 in Havana Cuba and immigrated to the United States in 1955.

He served in the United States Army where he was honorably discharged in 1963. In 1967, he became the first Cuban to join the Jersey City Police force in New Jersey where he eventually retired after 25 years of service.

Pedro was an avid golfer and tennis player. He was also known for his joke telling abilities.

Pedro is survived by his loving wife, Blanca Mesa, three children, Yvette, Peter and Mark and also by his grandchildren, Erica, Anthony, Brandon, Nicholas and Sydney.

The Mesa family would like to extend their gratitude to Carol Smith and her staff at the Prestige Manor III facility and to Kindred at Home Hospice of Marion County for the care that Pedro received.

A visitation will take place at Hiers-Baxley Funeral Services, 1511 Buenos Aires Blvd, The Villages, FL on Thursday, June 21, 2018 from 3 – 5 p.m . A funeral mass will be celebrated at St Timothy Catholic Church, 1351 Paige Place, The Villages, FL on Friday, June 22, 2018 at 8:30 a.m. Burial will take place at Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, FL.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Alzheimer’s Research Foundation (www.alzheimersresearchfoundation.com).
