The release of an accident report is shedding light on a golf cart crash Monday evening at the Morse Boulevard roundabout near U.S. Hwy. 27/441.
Ardith H. James, 82, of the Village of Sabal Chase, had been at the wheel of a white 2012 Yamaha golf cart at about 6:30 p.m. Monday when she struck a cylindrical barrier in the golf cart path near the intersection of Morse Boulevard and El Camino Real, according to an accident report from the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office. She was knocked from the golf cart and fell to the ground.
She was transported by ambulance to Ocala Regional Medical Center.
James told a deputy she had been looking to the right for oncoming traffic when the accident occurred. She was ticketed as a result of the crash.
This past November, a passenger in a golf cart was traumatically injured in a collision with another barricade at that circle.
In 2014, Villager Larry Grimes called for change at the Morse roundabout after he was seriously injured when his golf cart was involved in an accident. He suffered a concussion and three fractured ribs.
