Police arrested a man Thursday night in connection with a shooting in a southwest Ocala neighborhood.
Willie Thomas, 24, was taken into custody after officers found him hiding in the attic of a home in the 2000 block of SW 5th Place – the same street where the shooting took place earlier in the day. He was transported to the Marion County Jail and charged with shooting into a vehicle and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
Police received a call about a shooting on SW 5th Place shortly after 9 a.m. Thursday. Two men apparently had been fighting when one pulled a gun and fired at the other one. Both had fled the scene by the time police arrived, but a Chrysler Pacifica believed to be connected with the case was damaged and left at the scene.
