Woman who needed to get to work jailed after caught driving without license in The Villages

A woman was jailed on $10,000 bond after she was caught driving without a license in The Villages.

Shannon Margaret Donovan, 39, of Summerfield, had been driving a black Volkswagen at 6:55 a.m. Thursday when a Sumter County sheriff’s deputy ran the license plate and discovered the vehicle’s registered owner had a driver’s license which has been revoked. A traffic stop was initiated at U.S. Hwy. 27/441 and Morse Boulevard, during which Donovan admitted knowing her license was suspended. She told the deputy that her ride did not show up to take her to work, so she had to drive herself to work.

A criminal history check revealed Donovan was convicted of driving under the influence in 2017. At the time, her license was suspended for six months, she was placed on probation for a year and ordered not to consume or possess alcohol. In October 2017, there was an order for the termination of her probation.

She was booked at the Sumter County Detention Center and released after posting bond.
