Theresa Marie Volpe Wanner, 88, of Suwanee, Georgia, formerly of The Villages, Florida, passed
away on July 1, 2018, at home after a courageous year‐long battle with cancer. She was born on July 22, 1929 in Newark, NJ, the daughter of Boni and Mary Monica Volpe.
She graduated from West Side High School in 1946 and married Walter W. Wanner on September 12, 1954. They moved around the country together more than 30 times during their 64‐year marriage. She not only relished the challenges of making a new home for her family at each step along the way, but also welcomed the opportunity to meet and make new friends across the country. Known to all who loved her as “Terry”; she was a homemaker and dedicated lifelong shopper who enjoyed cooking, needlework and other crafts. Later in life Terry became an avid golfer. She was a member of the Lions Club and enjoyed her membership in the Chicagoland Club as well as playing mahjong and bunco with friends.
Terry was preceded in death by her parents and by her sisters Phyllis Volpe LaBella and Anne Volpe
Dasher and her brother Anthony Volpe. She is survived by her husband Walter and by her five children, daughter Kim Bailey and husband Bill of Gulf Breeze, FL; son Kurt Wanner and wife Karol of Ponte Vedra Beach, FL; son Wayne Wanner and wife Eleonore of The Villages, FL; son Will Wanner and wife Catherine of Harborcreek, PA and son Boni Wanner and wife Leslie of Dunwoody, GA. She is also survived by her eleven grandchildren; Jillian Wanner Longpine and husband Tyler, Chase Wanner, Olivia Bailey Cason and husband Rex, Brandon Wanner and wife Kara, Julia Bailey Dancaescu and husband Leason, Calvin Wanner, Diane Wanner, Jessica Wanner Carter and husband Kevin, Diana Wanner, Dylan Wanner and Emelia Wanner. Also surviving are eight great‐grandchildren, Campbell Beinhower, Makenna and Alaina Cason, Madelyn and Keiren Dancaescu, Maya Longpine and Peyton and Nolan Wanner.
A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 4 at the Alpharetta Funeral Home in
Alpharetta, GA.
In lieu of flowers the family is requesting that donations be made to St. Jude Children’s
Hospital (stjude.org).
