Villages Twirlers to make patriotic splash in Fourth of July performances at all three town squares

The Villages Twirlers and Drum Corps is gearing up for a huge Independence Day feat.
The group, known for performing at Villages events, will be at all three town squares Wednesday night as Villagers celebrate the 242nd anniversary of our country adopting the Declaration of Independence.

Twirlers Captain Anne Pelle and her fellow performers are geared up for three shows on Wednesday, July 4.

The fun kicks off at 5:30 at Brownwood Paddock Square, where Scooter the DJ will be entertaining the crowd at The Dog Trot Porch. Next stop for the Twirlers will be Lake Sumter Landing Market Square at 6:45 p.m., where Johnny Wild & The Delights will entertain the crowd from the Pavilion. And finally, at 7:45 p.m., the Twirlers will perform their third show of the night at Spanish Springs Town Square, where Blue Stone Circle will be in the Gazebo.

The Patriotic Stilt Walkers will be at all three town squares with the likes of Uncle Sam, the Statue of Liberty and other historical figures.

Several other Festival Performance Groups also will entertain crowds from multiple squares. Those include: The Villages Cheerleaders, Aloha ‘O Ka Hula Dance Troupe and The Prime Time Twirlers.

The Villages Twirlers and Drum Corps, which started with eight members in 2003, now features more than 100 performers. The team performs in all of The Villages’ parades, shows at the Savannah Center, the polo grounds, all three town squares, the VA Outpatient Clinic, charity events and many store grand openings.

Outside The Villages, the team has performed in many events, including parades at the Citrus Bowl, Daytona Beach, the Sumter County Fair, Fruitland Park, Leesburg, Lady Lake, Bushnell, Eustis and Disney, to name a few. They have also served as an opening act at the Orlando Amway Center for the Orlando Magic.
