A Village of Pennecamp man reported his golf cart was stolen after he emerged from a popular nightspot at Spanish Springs Town Square.
The 69-year-old stopped at about 11 p.m. July 13 at Margarita Republic, leaving his blue Club Car parked out front, according to an incident report from the Lady Lake Police Department. When he came out at about 1 a.m., the golf cart was gone. He contacted police.
The next day, the man returned to the area and found his golf cart parked a few spaces away from where it had originally been parked.
Police believe there had been a mixup involving the keys and ignition, and someone drove off in the man’s golf cart thinking it was their own. It is believed that person returned the man’s golf cart upon discovering the error.
