A Lady Lake man has been arrested in an armed attack which occurred Monday night when a man was letting his dog out.
The man had stepped out with his dog shortly before midnight at his house in the vicinity of South Haines Creek Road in Leesburg, according to an arrest report from the Lake County Sheriff’s Office. The man grew suspicious when his dog began acting strange. He called for the dog to go back inside the house and the man was then struck in the back of the head. He managed to stumble into the house and fell onto a couch. He looked up and saw two men with guns pointed at him, the report said. The pair took the man’s wallet, as well as a gold chain valued at $1,200.
The pair, later identified as 24-year-old Steffan Jamal Lewis of Lady Lake and 23-year-old Jaylen Tremaine Dawkins of Mount Dora, were apprehended by deputies and later identified by the victim.
The pair were found to be in possession of drugs, a 9mm handgun and a .45-caliber semi-automatic handgun.
Both men were booked on a host of charges at the Lake County Jail. Both men’s bond has been set at $66,000.
