Neil Hay McCall

Neil Hay McCall, aged 85, formerly of The Villages, FL, passed away on July 20, 2018 at Rockyview General Hospital in Calgary at the age of 85 years. Neil was born on July 19, 1933 in Toronto to Colin and Jean McCall.

He proudly told stories of his childhood, raised in a cold-water flat and dreaming of greatness as a baseball player. He spent most of his career in banking, earning his nickname “Cash McCall” as he worked his way up the ranks to regional management at IAC, Continental Bank, and Lloyds Bank, and later vice-president at HSBC. Neil later founded McCall Capital Inc., where he could structure complex international leasing arrangements with his trusty Springer Spaniel/security dog by his side.

Neil was honored to serve as a caddie at the 1947 Canadian Open, which ignited a lifelong passion for golf. For over 40 years he was a member of Credit Valley Golf and Country Club in Mississauga, where he could always be found in the first group on Saturday mornings, and was proud to record two holes-in-one.

In retirement, Neil spent many happy winters at The Villages in Florida, and moved to Calgary in 2012 to be closer to his family. He never missed an opportunity to pass along life lessons, tell family stories, and sing old-time songs with his loved ones.

He will be dearly missed by his loving wife, Marg; his three daughters, Lesley, Laurie (Glen), and Kim (Scott); and his grandchildren Dale (Lisa), Molly, Cole, Sean, Dougie, Connie, and Colin, and his great-grandson Cameron.
