Marion County Supervisor of Elections Wesley Wilcox is reminding voters that Monday, July 30 is the deadline to register to vote and change political party affiliation for the Aug. 28 Primary Election.
Hours at the Supervisor of Elections office, located at 981 NE 16th Street in Ocala, have been extended from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Voters who are already registered do not need to re-register and can check their voter registration status by visiting VoteMarion.com or calling (352) 620-3290. Applications must be postmarked or received by the Supervisor of Elections office no later than July 30 to participate in the upcoming Primary Election.
Florida is a closed primary state, meaning only voters who are registered members of political parties may vote for respective party candidates. All voters, regardless of party affiliation, can vote on nonpartisan candidates and issues.
Every voter in Marion County will have the following items on their ballot:
- Circuit Judge – 5th Judicial Circuit, Group 4;
- County Judge Groups 2, 3, 4;
- School Board Districts 3, 4, 5; and
- Approval of continuing one mil ad valorem tax for School District operating expenses.
Residents can update their registration online at VoteMarion.com. Paper applications also are available at the Supervisor of Elections office, public libraries and tax collector offices and can be returned by mail or in person.
All registered voters in Florida can update their voter registration record at any time, except for a political party change for a primary election. Name, address and signature changes should be updated with the Supervisor of Elections office before Election Day to ensure a smooth voting experience.
