A Marion County sheriff’s deputy was called Thursday to investigate a burglary at a Summerfield home just outside The Villages.
A man who had been doing work at the home in the 8300 block of 160th Place told the deputy that the burglary took place sometime between Tuesday, July 24 at 4 p.m. and Thursday, July 26 at 9 a.m. The man said he had locked all the doors and didn’t realize the items were missing until he tried to connect a tool to an air compressor that was no longer there. That’s when the man also noticed a door was open, a sheriff’s office report states.
In addition to the air compressor, the man said the missing items included a construction radio, a drill and battery, hand tools, a jacket, a saw bit, two brad nailers, an orbital sander, an isolator tool and a pin nailer. All told, the man told deputies, the loss was estimated at $250.
