A Summerfield man searching for a ride to a McDonald’s restaurant in the wee hours of Tuesday morning is claiming he was robbed of his wallet and cell phone.
The man, who lives on SE 103rd Avenue, told Marion County Sheriff’s deputies that he walked to a friend’s house sometime before 3 a.m. to get a ride to the fast-food restaurant. He said the friend wouldn’t get out of bed so he decided to walk instead.
The man said that when he was walking back to his house, he made contact with a man and woman sitting outside a residence. He said he talked to them and inquired about going to McDonald’s, but they didn’t want to go, the report says.
The man told deputies that he started to walk back to his residence when he was told about a shortcut between homes. He said he took the trail and was robbed. The man said he then “stumbled home and feel asleep,” the report says, adding that he realized his wallet and phone were missing when he woke up Tuesday.
