
James (Jim) Lee Howard Sr., of Leesburg, FL, passed away peacefully August 2, 2018, surrounded by his devoted wife and children. Jim was born July 8, 1944, to Robert and Lucy Howard of Shinglehouse, Pennsylvania, who predeceased him.
Jim attended Shinglehouse High School, and proudly served in the United States Army, retiring in 1992. Jim was a decorated Vietnam Veteran, receiving the Army Service Ribbon, National Defense Service Medal, 2 Bronze Stars, Army Good Conduct Medal, third award, Armed Forces Reserve Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, 4 Overseas Service Bars, Army Reserve Component Achievement Medal and Meritorious Unit Citation.
Jim and Liz resided in Leesburg, Florida at the time of his death.
He is survived by his wife of 42 years Elizabeth Ann Ray Howard, and his children, Ann Fisher, James (Elizabeth) Howard, Jr., Kim Rose, Elizabeth (Andrew) Dunbar, Leon (Ronda) Fisk, Cheryl (Jeff) Snyder, Tina (Terry) Nenno, Patricia (Daniel) Havers and many, many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Additionally, Jim was predeceased by his brothers Donald Howard, Paul Howard, Robert Howard and Richard Howard and survived by his siblings Jack Howard, Gloria Jean Howard and William Howard.
James will be cremated at Beyers Funeral Home and Crematory of Leesburg. There will be no graveside services and the family will have a Celebration of Life at their own convenience.
