Manvel (Manny) A. Knutson, of Lady Lake, FL, passed away August 24 at Promise Hospital in Oxford, FL. He was born on November 9, 1929 in Milwaukee, WI, to Manuel and Agnes (Bolstad) Knutson.
Manny graduated from Rufus King HS in Milwaukee WI in 1948. After HS graduation he studied at Milwaukee School of Engineering until 1951 when he joined the U.S. Marine Corp. He served in the Korean War as a Lance Corporal. He was Honorably discharged in 1959.
After his service career he moved to Hixton, WI and bought the Knutson family farm on which he farmed until 1967 when he took a job with Gould Battery in MN. Minnesota is where he met the love of his life Anne. In May of 1977 he married Anne Weinans in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Manny worked for Gould Battery in Minnesota, Georgia and Mexico until he retired in 1994.
After he and Anne retired they moved to The Villages in Lady Lake. They lived in the Country Club Hills community which was the very first of many developments in the community. Manny was a Lifetime member of VFW Post 1296 of Bloomington, MN, plus he and Anne were members of the Scandinavian American Club, and several Bowling and Golf leagues in The Villages. While in Wisconsin and Minnesota he enjoyed playing baseball and softball and hunting for game.
He is survived by several Nieces and Nephews in Wisconsin, Minnesota, Tennessee and Washington. He is also survived by their very dear friends Marvin and Sue Morris of The Villages. Marvin and Sue were there for him every day.
He is preceded in death by his wife Anne, his parents Manuel and Agnes, sisters Alva Knutson, Marvel Schroeder and Clarine Irish, and his brother Richard Knutson.
Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, August 28, 2018, at Beyers Funeral Home, 134 N. Hwy. 27/441, Lady Lake, FL with visitation one hour prior to service. Burial will follow at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, FL with military honors.
