Judith A. ‘Judy’ Curtis

Judith A. “Judy” Curtis, passed away on September 4, 2018 at her home in The Villages. She was born in Manhattan, KS on June 19, 1939 to Kenneth and Gladys Heywood.

She graduated from Kansas State University with a Home Economics degree and followed that with a Masters degree in Textile and Design. Judy was hired by Singer Sewing Machines in Kansas City to develop the software for their first computer run sewing machine. She then moved to Olathe, KS where she owned her own tailoring shop “The Sewing Gin”. She taught her clients how to tailor their own clothes and use these new machines. She and her first husband David George had three sons, Brian and twins Stevin and Kevin.

Judy met her current husband LTC Tony Curtis in 1985 and they moved to Gladstone, MO where she became the Quality Control Manager for the Morgan Stanley Finance Company. They moved to their final home, which Judy designed, in the Glenbrook Village in 2000. Judy continued to improve her designs in their home and all agreed it is one of the better designed homes in The Villages! They loved watching The Villages grow from 7,000 to over 150,000! She sang in the North Lake Presbyterian Church’s choir and helped several families redesign their homes. Judy fought pancreatic cancer three times and will be sorely missed by family and friends.

Judy is survived by her husband Tony, her sons and daughters-in-law Brian (Lisa), Stevin (Carol) and her son and best friend Kevin (and his best friend Michele Smith), her granddaughters Shannon and Rachelle George and grandsons Alex, Shawn and Quinn George.

A Celebration of Judy’s Life will be on Saturday, October 13, 2018 at 11 a.m. at North Lake Presbyterian Church in Lady Lake, FL.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the “Little Blessings” children’s fund at the North Lake Presbyterian Church, 975 Rolling Acres Road, Lady Lake, FL 32159.
